Penobscot Books

Books by Maine authors celebrating the area’s uniqueness are at the heart of Penobscot Books in Stonington, Maine. Their mission is preservation in book form, keeping alive their history, commemorating the special people of their area, and sharing their spectacular natural resources and culture. Their authors all live in or have ties to the East Penobscot Bay area, making Penobscot Books a truly local independent publisher. Their titles are largely nonfiction and also include cookbooks and children’s publications. Several have won awards. Penobscot Books is a division of Penobscot Bay Press, a 50+ -year-old company that publishes three weekly newspapers covering the towns of East Penobscot Bay. As part of their mission, they also preserve some of that newspaper content in book form. They publish multiple books per year in sync with the summer season and winter holidays. Their books are marketed to bookstores and other venues throughout Maine and New England as well as to Acadia National Park gift stores, and can be found on their website, in their offices in Stonington and Blue Hill, and some titles on amazon.com. If they choose not to publish under the Penobscot Books imprint, they will work with authors to self-publish and market if they desire.
