Peavey Submissions

The Peavey is MWPA’s weekly, members-only newsletter. We welcome your submissions, and please follow the guidelines below. If you have questions, please direct them to peavey@mainewriters.org or call (207) 228-8263.

Event & News Submissions

We love to help publicize your Maine-based literary events and news. Please help us achieve this by following the few simple guidelines below when submitting your events and news.

  • EVENTS Please send your event listing pre-formatted* to match the format of the example listing below. Due to the volume of events we receive, we request event listings please be as concise as possible and include a link so interested readers can find more information. Please include the info in the body of your email (rather than as an attached document). Please mirror the format here:

THURSDAY, MAY 25 at 7 PM Jim Krosschell will read from his new essay collection One Man’s Maine at the Jesup Library in Bar Harbor(*Please paste a link to your event here)

  • NEWS Please send NEWS blurbs of 25- to 100-words, and be sure to include a link that leads to more information.

  • NEW BOOK RELEASE The Peavey does not include postings of new book releases. Rather, the MWPA sends out a monthly e-newsletter called Ex Libris Maine, which exclusively profiles recently released books by MWPA members. The newsletter is sent to a large group of recipients, including our entire MWPA membership and numerous literary organizations, bookstores, libraries, and media outlets. Inclusion in Ex Libris Maine is free for individual members submitting their own books.

  • SCHEDULE The Peavey is published every Thursday morning. NEWS and EVENT listings must be submitted by the end of Tuesday to be considered. EVENTS are listed roughly two or three weeks in advance and will run in consecutive issues of the Peavey in the weeks proceeding the event—for example, a Peavey sent on the 7th of the month would include events from the 7th to the 14th, and the 14th to the 21st.

  • SEND Please send your news or event info to peavey@mainewriters.org.

  • NOTE The Peavey is not able to include listings for fee-based writing workshops hosted by other organizations (unless the MWPA is a partner or collaborator); events such as plays with “suggested donations” may be considered.

(*We will make every effort to run event info that has not been pre-formatted but can neither guarantee it, nor take responsibility for any errors introduced during re-formatting.)

Member News

We love to celebrate the successes of MWPAers, from publications to awards to fellowships and more. If you have news of your own to share, please write a sentence or two and include the particulars in an email and send it to peavey@mainewriters.org, and we'll include it in an upcoming Peavey. Member News does not run every week.
