Intro to Personal Storytelling: Finding Your Voice, Telling Your Story with Stacey Bader Curry

  • Mechanics' Hall 519 Congress Street Portland, ME 04101 (map)

A 6-Week Memoir Workshop

Wednesdays: September 3 – October 8, 6-9 PM

Everyone has a story—this workshop helps you find yours and tell it with confidence, clarity, and heart. Taught by ten-time Moth StorySLAM champion and NPR-featured storyteller Stacey Bader Curry, this six-week introductory workshop is designed for anyone curious about the craft of personal storytelling. Whether you're a writer seeking to refine your voice, a performer eager to take the stage, or simply someone with a story to share, this course provides a warm, supportive space to explore, shape, and share your narrative.

Each week, participants will engage in generative exercises, listen to and analyze compelling stories, and receive personalized feedback. We’ll cover core storytelling techniques—structure, stakes, voice, and presence—along with tips on developing confidence and authenticity in live or recorded delivery.

The course culminates in an optional final showcase, where participants can perform a five-minute story for friends and guests. No prior experience is necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to dive in.

Optional bonus: Participants will also be invited on an (optional) field trip to a live Moth event in Boston.

You’ll leave with:

  • A polished personal story (and a few drafts-in-progress)

  • Foundational tools for crafting and telling stories in any setting

  • New connections and a community of fellow storytellers

Come with a notebook and an open mind!

$275 Members/$475 Nonmembers
