THE STATS
More than six dozens books were entered into the Award’s various categories. Fifty manuscripts were submitted into the Short Works Competition, and more than 100 Maine students sent work into the Youth Competition.
The finalists in each category hail from every corner of the state, including Brunswick, Camden, Deer Isle, Harmony, Mercer, Portland, Presque Isle, Rockland, Surry, and York.
Student finalists represent schools in towns such as Gouldsboro, New Gloucester, Portland, Scarborough, and Yarmouth, as well as one homeschooled finalist.
The MWPA is extremely grateful to every writer, teacher, and publisher who submitted work to the 2011 Maine Literary Awards. The overabundance of exceptional work was impressive, to say the least.
